Non so dire quale è stato il momento in cui ho capito che la danza stava entrando nella mia vita come sua parte dolce ed essenziale, travolgente e totalizzante. Forse è stata la musica orientale che ascoltavo ogni tanto e che sin dalle prime note faceva vibrare qualcosa nel mio profondo... come se qualcuno mi chiamasse... qualcuno o qualcosa che risvegliava in me un' enorme quantità di energia pronta a esplodere, sprigionarsi, volare fuori. Passavano gli anni e, tramite la danza, mi avvicinavo sempre di più alla cultura orientale. Quel richiamo continuava a farsi sentire, a volte cosi intensamente, da farmi rimanere sconcertata e turbata. Leggevo tantissimo, di tutto, su tutto... in un continuo che prosegue ancora oggi intensamente. Ho fatto conoscenza con sei lingue diverse ma sono stata da sempre affascinata dalla ricchezza espressiva e profonda delle lingue orientali. Appena possibile ho iniziato a frequentare un corso di danza del ventre, lavorando sodo, allenandomi per ore e ore, tutti i giorni. Ho partecipato a varie gare; quelle nazionali nel 2004 (arrivata sesta), i mondiali in Russia nel 2004 (arrivata ai quarti di finale), i campionati regionali (2005), la coppa Italia (2005). Ma le gare non mi bastavano e nel frattempo continuavo ad approfondire i miei studi. Il richiamo della danza e delle sue profonde implicazioni culturali e sociali persisteva, così continuavo a cercare, ri-cercare, studiare, scoprire... Ad un certo punto è stato inevitabile il contatto con coreografi e danzatrici universalmente riconosciuti in Oriente, specialmente nel fascinoso e mitologico Egitto, ritenuto, a ragione, la vera Patria dell' arte della danza del ventre mediorientale. Studiavo e crescevo, lavorando e imparando con Aida Hassan, Aida Nour, Zaza Hassan e Raquia Hassan, scoprendo una infinità di cose e di particolari della danza che risultarono determinanti soprattutto, grazie al metodo appreso, per continuare nel lavoro di ricerca. Linguaggi intrecciati della mente del corpo e dell'anima non consentono malintesi e quando si sprigionano e si liberano nella danza sono sempre ed inevitabilmente trasparenti e sinceri. Ora so che quel forte e infinito richiamo é parte della mia realizzazione professionale ma soprattutto è parte viva e totalizzante della mia Persona; ed è per questo che mi ritengo assai fortunata in quanto profondamente innamorata del mio lavoro. Essere danzatrice del ventre è professione d'amore e di vita, di cultura e di spiritualitá, di gioia e di donazione. Quando mente, corpo e anima, fluiscono liberi e trasparenti allora anche il mio corpo inizia a seguire e a fondersi con loro nella danza, nell'amore per la musica, per tutto e per tutti quelli che mi circondano, per la felicitá di vivere le cose profonde in cui credo e per le quali credo di essere piacevolmente condannata ad esistere. Attualmente vivo in Italia, spostandomi per il mio lavoro continuamente tra il nord ed il sud del Paese. Benvenuti nel misterioso e affascinante mondo della danza del ventre! Femminile, coinvolgente seduce con movenze morbide e raffinate o estremamente scolpite e precise, melodie profonde e allegre o rullio ardente, danza che incanta da centinaia di anni i cuori degli spettatori e che ora rinasce per la seconda volta non solo in Medio Oriente, ma anche ben oltre i suoi confini. La storia della danza orientale ha radici profonde migliaia di anni. Non troverete un'origine certa: le varie ipotesi propongono la diffusione di quest'arte all'epoca dei faraoni - così sostengono gli egiziani - come ipotesi forse più affidabile: la danza orientale fu portata dall'India dai gitani nel decimo secolo e successivamente si è diffusa nel mondo. Ghawasee (gitani) erano nomadi e durante i loro spostamenti assorbirono le tradizioni locali come anche gli stili delle danze. Così, vivendo in Egitto, le loro danze avevano già subito le influenze turche, nordafricane, della Persia e degli altri paesi del Medio Oriente. I viaggiatori dell' Occidente furono incantati dalle danze da loro viste in Egitto e portarono la notizia in Europa. La prima citazione significativa di Ghaweese è del diciottesimo secolo. Dall' inizio del diciannovesimo secolo diventarono popolari gli show più svariati. Le danzatrici orientali vi parteciparono in Europa e negli Stati Uniti. Il primo show con delle danze orientali fu mostrato a Parigi nel 1889. Nel 1892 le prime danzatrici si esibirono a Chicago e per pubblicizzare il loro spettacolo venne usata la frase francese Danse du ventre, uno stratagemma pubblicitario che portava a una distorsione del senso della danza orientale. E anche se ricordiamo che la danza orientale è molto antica, bisogna tener presente che la danza del ventre moderna ha oramai poche somiglianze con le espressioni di allora. L'uso delle spade, oppure dei serpenti non ha nessuna radice nella femminile danza mediorientale. Attualmente esistono diversi stili di danza orientale e ognuno di essi è un arte a sé. Possono essere eseguiti con o senza uso di accessori come velo, assaya (bastone), sagat (cimbali), shamadan (candelabro), pugnale, tamburello. Esistono vari stili di danza orientale folcloristica - Saidi (Raks Al Assaya), Haligi (Saudi, Samri), Hagalla (Haggallah, Haggala), Melaya Leff (Escandarani), Fellahi (Fellahin), Baladi (Beledi, Balyadi), Ghawasee (Gawasee), Nubian, Dabke e altri stili ancora. In molti paesi dell'occidente ogni collegamento con la danza orientale spesso viene definito danza del ventre, il che non sarebbe corretto. Il termine giusto sarebbe Raks Sharki che è traducibile come danza orientale. In generale tutti i popoli di Medio Oriente hanno la propria musica, le proprie danze, stili e variazioni di ogni stile in ogni paese.
